CAD Drafting Services in Ohio
Optimar Precon gives Ohio contractors, MEP subcontractors, architects and manufacturers extra drafting capacity when in-house teams are stretched. We turn approved designs, redlines and PDFs into clean, editable DWG drawing sets: architectural, structural, MEP, shop and as-built.
We work to your CAD standards and title blocks, schedule review calls around the Eastern Time working day, and leave design approval and stamping with your Ohio-registered engineer or architect.

What a Drafting Package Looks Like for Ohio Project Types
Three common requests from contractors in the state, showing what you send us, what you get back and the usual timeframe. These are example scopes, not client case studies. Your quote is based on your own drawings.
MEP installation drawings for a warehouse fit-out
An MEP subcontractor has the engineer’s design PDFs and needs coordinated HVAC, power and lighting layouts on the GC’s title block for field installation.
- You send
- Design PDFs, CAD template, spec sections
- You get
- Layered DWG plans, details, PDF set
- Typical size
- 30–60 sheets
- Typical time
- 2–3 weeks
Existing-conditions drawings from legacy PDFs
A design team renovating one floor of an older healthcare building has only scanned record drawings. We rebuild them as scaled CAD backgrounds so design can start on accurate base plans.
- You send
- Scans, site photos, field redlines
- You get
- Architectural and MEP base plans in DWG
- Typical size
- 10–25 sheets
- Typical time
- 5–8 business days
Equipment layout and steel support drawings
A contractor adding a production line needs equipment layouts plus support steel and platform drawings that the fabricator can work from, based on the engineer’s markups.
- You send
- Engineer markups, vendor equipment data
- You get
- Layouts, steel and fabrication details
- Typical size
- 15–40 sheets
- Typical time
- 2–3 weeks; revisions in under a week

Drawings Prepared for Ohio Plan Review and Construction
Commercial work in Ohio is reviewed against the Ohio Building Code (OBC), which the Ohio Board of Building Standards adopts from the International Building Code with state amendments. Mechanical and plumbing work follows the Ohio Mechanical and Plumbing Codes.
We draft to the code edition, details and notes your design team specifies. Construction documents submitted for approval must be prepared under, and sealed by, an Ohio-registered architect or professional engineer. We support that team. We do not replace it.

Steel, ductwork and equipment assemblies with the dimensions fabricators need.
Shop drawings →PDF and scan to CAD
Legacy PDFs, scans and sketches rebuilt as layered, scaled DWG files.
CAD conversion →As-built drawings
Record drawings updated from field redlines and verified site changes for closeout.
As-built drawings →Need drafting outside Ohio, or the full list of disciplines? See our main CAD services page. For Revit models and coordination, see BIM services in the USA.

Drafting Support Across the State’s Main Markets
We work remotely, so location doesn’t limit us. These are the project types we see most in each region.
Columbus and Central Ohio
Data center campuses around New Albany and Licking County, logistics buildings and commercial fit-outs. Electrical, mechanical and equipment layout drawings are most in demand.
Cleveland, Akron and Northeast Ohio
Hospital renovations, research buildings and older industrial sites, where PDF-to-CAD conversion and as-built updates come before any new design.
Cincinnati and Southwest Ohio
Warehouses and air-cargo logistics facilities near the CVG airport corridor, plus commercial and mixed-use buildings.
Dayton, Toledo and Northwest Ohio
Aerospace-related facilities, automotive plants and factory retrofits needing equipment layouts, steel details and fabrication drawings.
Questions Contractors Ask Before Outsourcing Drafting
Can you prepare drawings that meet the Ohio Building Code?
We draft to the OBC edition, details and general notes your architect or engineer specifies. Code compliance and the final seal stay with your Ohio-registered design professional; our job is accurate, consistent drawings that make their review faster.
Do you stamp or seal drawings?
No. We are a drafting and documentation team. Drawings submitted for permit in Ohio must be sealed by a registered architect or professional engineer, who reviews and takes responsibility for our work.
How do you work with a team on Eastern Time?
We agree a daily window for calls and set handover times so revised drawings are waiting at the start of your working day. Queries are logged in writing so nothing depends on a phone call.
What does CAD drafting cost for an Ohio project?
Pricing depends on sheet count, disciplines, the quality of your source files and how many revision rounds you expect. Send the drawings and we’ll return a fixed quote with a sheet list and schedule.
Can you take on ongoing drafting work rather than one project?
Yes. Many clients start with one package and then keep a dedicated drafter working to their standards each month, so they add capacity without hiring.
